THIRTEEN YEAR OLD NAMED NATIONAL SPOKESPERSON FOR NATIONAL DRUNK DRIVING AWARENESS CAMPAIGN. What Becca Levy lacks in years she more than makes up for with heart. The 13-year-old Washington D.C. native has just entered her teens but has already had her fill of the drunk driving accidents that kill thousands each year. “Did you know that every 32 minutes, a person dies is a drunk driving accident in America? When I learned this, I realized that this was something I wanted to do something about--and the best way was through music. It’s a language that all young people speak.” With that resolve behind her, Becca could not be happier about being named National Spokesperson for the Stop Drunk Driving Now Kid’s Saving Kid’s CD Campaign. The campaign marks the first time that talented young musicians from across America will work together to us their music to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence. Here’s how it will work: A total of 30 artists will appear on a digitally distributed CD, and the music of these talented young people will be available for free downloading by anyone in America. When people visit the page to hear the music, they will see a host of messages--designed by high school and college students--about the brutal costs of drunk driving and prevention messages. Ronald Bellanti, president of Boston-based Illumina Records AND ... put something here about his interest in drunk driving prevention conceived the idea. “This is another weapon in our drunk driving prevention arsenal,” said he said. “The earlier we start kids thinking about not getting behind the wheel drunk the better." And that is exactly what the Kids Saving Kids Campaign will do. The artists that appear on the CD will all be under the age of 18. That means that the music will not only be created by young artists but geared to young listeners--the very people we need to start soaking in these messages. The uniqueness of this opportunity is not lost on the artists. “What better way to use my music than to save other kids' lives? Drunk driving affects everyone regardless of his or her age. I hope you will join me in this fight. Together we can all make a difference,” Becca said. To submit your music for consideration you must submit a MP3 or a WAV file of ONE of your songs. Also include your age, hometown, and YOUR PARENTS’ contact information. The name of Taylor Swift has been in the mouths... « Result #4 on Nov 7, 2009, 12:39am »
The name of Taylor Swift has been in the mouths of both music and movie fans for two reasons: both her appearance in upcoming romantic comedy Valentine's Day with co-star Taylor Lautner, and their relationship outside the movie. Swift doesn’t like talking about her relationship with Lautner and have insisted they are just friends. But it has been reported that she has already introduced him to her mother. Both teenage-heroes have been spotted embracing during a night out at a hockey game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Another new thing in Swift’s life is her upcoming obligations as a host to Saturday Night Live. She says she is very excited and full of ideas for skits. But what fans really enjoy about Swift is her music. The 19-year-old singer is the youngest artist ever to be nominated for the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year Award. She extended her "Fearless” tour which second arm begins in February 2010. She will perform her greatest hits on five shows in Australia, followed by 37 shows in 29 cities in 22 states and provinces in the U.S. and Canada. Many of next year’s shows have already been sold out just minutes after releasing the tickets. This year’s shows are all sold out. It has been confirmed that Kellie Pickler and up-and-coming country band Gloriana will be the opening acts for Taylor Swift tour next year. While heavily touring, the star will compete at the 43rd Annual CMA Awards in four categories, including Entertainer of the Year. The awards will be given November 11, 2009. Her music has also been a part of the popular show dancing With the Stars. “Love Story” and her new song, "Jump Then Fall" were one of the highlights of the performance on October 27. To all the fans of the Taylor Swift all over the globe, don't miss the chance to see Taylor Swift concerts live in your city!
